Object-Relation Approach
Object Relation theorists differ from Freudian therapists in the emphasis on “objects” or significant others; the importance of having good relationships with others.
Goal
Object Relation therapists help clients develop a strong sense of “self”, work through pathological childhood experiences, provide a client with support, acceptance, and opportunities to relate to others in a more meaningful, realistic manner while confronting basic anxiety. Many therapists use the objective relation approach when working with couples.
