Psychodynamic Family Therapy

Psychodynamic family therapy represents the fusion between contradictory views of human behavior: the psychoanalytic view of behavior as the result of intra-psychic forces and the family therapy view of behavior as the result of interpersonal factors.

Goal

The goal is the modification of the personalities of individual family members in order to relate to one another on the basis of the current situation rather than on the basis of the past, achieving differentiation which entails gaining independence from one’s family of origin and to balance entitlement with indebtedness.
